US agency to support 2,500MW nuclear project in South Africa

The US International Development Finance Corporation has committed to supporting NuScale Power, a US nuclear power technology company, to develop 2,500 megawatts of power in South Africa.

The draft provides for the allocation of 23 billion rand to boost private investment in infrastructure and spending of 4.5 billion rand on public transport over the next 12 months, but provides scant details on where the money will come from.
