Cape Town – Former President Jacob Zuma’s son, Duduzane Zuma, revealed on Monday night his willingness to enter the political arena at whatever level the people were willing to allow.
Speaking as a guest on SABC 3’s Trending SA show, Zuma said he thought everyone should get involved in politics.
“I mean, we all have opinions and we all have points of view that have been shaped by our experiences and our environments, so we all want to make a difference.
“For me, who has an interest in politics, that is certainly a yes. At any level, that is decided by the people,” Zuma said.
“Where I can make a difference, where I think I can have a big impact, I certainly will, and if it’s something that people are willing to give me the opportunity to do, I will deliver,” he said.
Zuma was responding to a question about an announcement that was something big planned when he returned from Dubai, where he is currently located.
He touched on politics, business, and what to expect from his future ventures during the primetime interview.
The announcement of his guest appearance on the show, which described him as an accomplished businessman, previously sparked a furor on Twitter.
When told that his name had been trending, Zuma said he was happy it was the right platform.
“I’m happy about that, regardless of the (reason) for the trend, be it positive or negative. I have to thank you guys for having me on the show. I know it’s a bold step you’ve taken,” he said.
Duduzane said that many people were very skeptical about having a frank discussion or facing an uncomfortable situation head-on.
“At this point, people say what they have to say and people drag you (the media) away. I’m not sure how you feel about it. I think it’s unnecessary. If that’s the case, it’s an unnecessary move. . “
When asked why he lived in Dubai, he responded with a question of his own.
“Am I not allowed to be here?” He said before hinting that he would travel to the country this week.
“People don’t understand why I moved out of South Africa. That is why I have talked about my constitutional rights being trampled on,” Zuma said, adding that people had the right to have their own opinions.
Duduzane was also asked what advice he would give his father and whether he would advise Zuma Sr. to appear before the Zondo Commission for the good of the country and his children.
The former president will appear before the commission in November, and the commission is also reportedly investigating his children’s finances.
Young Zuma said that his father was an independent person and would make whatever decision he thought was best.
“He treats the problems in his own life differently from other people … I think my advice is to do what you have to do. He understands the background and the problems you face.”
When asked why she was supporting former eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede, who is facing criminal charges, Zuma said he respects her and believes she would win the case.
“For my part, it was to show their support and I say that there are constitutional approaches and certain constitutional rights …”
He also noted that many people were celebrating the spate of recent arrests related to corruption by the Hawks.
“If we deal with corruption, let us deal with corruption in the right way. Let us not arrest and prosecute people without following the processes leading to the arrest and the investigations were not carried out properly and in some cases charge sheets were not formulated “.
He said that people should not be treated unfairly.
Zuma also clarified that he did not have any social media accounts.
“There are some social media accounts that pretend to be myself. I have been registered numerous times. My lawyer has testified in court,” he said.
“We said that any presence and comment should not be attributed to the fact that it is not me in any social network. I have absolutely no presence.”
