Frodo, the Boxer dog, was found after disappearing while chasing birds on rocks during a walk on the beach in East London last Sunday.
It was feared that he had drowned when he disappeared.
The National Maritime Rescue Institute (NSRI) said Frodo’s owner called to say that, after scouring the beach all week, the beach manager at Orient Beach alerted him to a possible sighting.
Geoff McGregor, NSRI East London station commander, said Frodo had been seen running through the sand and diving into the bushes.
He was finally found on the beach, to the joy of his people.
Last week, the NSRI launched a search after Frodo was presumed to have been swept off the rocks.
