JOHANNESBURG – Freedom Front Plus (FF +) said that people who do not take agricultural killings seriously are in denial and that this perception is exacerbating the problem in the country.
The party filed a complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission against the leader of the Economic Freedom Front, Julius Malema, and members of his party, who were heard chanting “Shoot the Boer” during demonstrations in Senekal el Friday.
Malema told the crowd that there were no murders on farms, claiming that suggestions that criminals have been targeting farmers is a huge exaggeration.
In video footage posted on social media, protesters wearing EFF badges can be heard singing the fight song as they demonstrated in Senekal Magistrates Court.
FF + leader Pieter Groenewald says that farm killings are a reality and that such irresponsible incitement and statements are fueling crime.
The small town in the free state came to a standstill after two suspects in the murder of farm manager Brendin Horner made their second appearance.
The FF +, which managed to have the song declared as hate speech in 2013, said it is time to take action against Malema in the interest of all South Africans.
