Luxury influencer Kefilwe Mabote broke her silence after reaching the top of the trend list last week when her boyfriend, Edwin Sodi, were seized.
The Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) of the National Tax Authority (NPA) seized several luxury cars from the politically connected businessman and his company Blackhead Consulting after he and six others were indicted in court last week for defrauding to the government of the Free State of R255 million through an alleged corrupt asbestos audit contract.
The AFU obtained an interim restraining order against Sodi and his co-defendants, allowing it to seize around R300 million in assets.
Twenty-five vehicles were seized, including a Ferrari, a Porsche, a Bentley Continental, and several Mercedes and Ford Rangers.
Following the news, speculation grew on social media about whether the cars Kefilwe drives would be recalled or not.
Kefilwe has, on several occasions, posted videos and images of herself on her social media accounts driving a Porsche, a Bentley, and even a McLaren GT.
While Edwin made headlines, Kefilwe did too. While the fashion star has been a mother, she broke her silence this week by saying she would sue the tabloid Sunday World.
“Naturally, I am never a supporter of confrontation, regardless of my presence and influence on social media as a public figure. However, the article was highly misleading, derogatory and defamatory, as it hinted that I am a “killer queen” who is presumably in a “bedroom roll” of wealthy men, particularly Edwin Sodi.
“Edwin and I have a happy, healthy and private relationship and we have no business affiliation with each other,” the statement read.
Kefilwe said the publication’s article discredited his brand.
