JOHANNESBURG – Takalani Lukhaimane from the Financial Services board says that the rightful beneficiaries have not claimed more than 50 billion rand in pension funds.

The Financial Sector Conduct Authority is urging South Africans to go online through the FCSA database to check if they qualify.

“We have several ways that people can make a query, one is the database that you would send an electronic query to, so you would fill out an online form and the form will require you to provide basic information, which will be protected.

“The system would then automatically check to see if there is a benefit that is potentially payable to you because the money is not actually left with the FSCA, but with the retirement funds the person used to belong to,” he said.

Potential beneficiaries can also text their ID number to 30913 or send an email inquiry to [email protected].
