The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is “weaker” since the departure of former Mamelodi Sundowns manager Pitso Mosimane to Egyptian Al Ahly, Kaizer Chiefs manager Gavin Hunt said.

“It doesn’t mean that the Sundowns are weaker. They have certainly strengthened their technical department, they have guys who know it.
“And obviously the most important thing is that they have a team of players who can play all formats, different forms, different competitions.
“It is a fantastic club. The Kaizer Chiefs have been beaten a bit and we have to go back, definitely up there, challenging and trying to be as competitive as them, and I think we can.
“That could take a bit of adjustment and some time. The bosses were very close last year. It cannot be said that they gave it away, it certainly was a real fight to the end.
“But ha, certainly the league is weaker and not better if he left, that’s for sure.
“He has seized a great opportunity and I wished him well and sent him a message. Great challenge.
“And a club our size at Chiefs, we have to compete on those fronts.
“I have played against Al Ahly many times with a lower team than they had, and we did very well. And I think with a club of our size and base of support, we can do well on that front as well. “
New Chiefs coach Hunt’s first game assignment comes as Amakhosi begins his 2020-21 season with Sunday’s MTN8 quarterfinals against Maritzburg United at FNB Stadium (start at 3pm).
