CEO, Stock Clerk Arrested for Allegedly Offering R60K Bribe for Chicken Tender

A Durban CEO and warehouse clerk, accused of attempting to bribe a chicken farm employee R60,000 to influence a tender, will seek bail in Kempton Park Regional Court on Wednesday.

The Hawks Serious Organized Crime Investigation Unit in Pretoria detained Suman Panday, 42, CEO of Blackie Plastics, and Madikana Gerald Mapokgola, 31, a warehouse clerk at Day Break Farm in Centurion, during an operation. at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park on Friday.

According to Hawks spokesman Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu, the couple allegedly approached an employee at an Olifantsfontein chicken farm to influence the award of a tender to Blackie Plastics for the supply of plastic chicken wrap. The employee was reportedly offered a one-time bonus of R60,000 and a monthly allowance.

But the employee reported the matter to the Hawks and they were arrested after allegedly delivering the R60,000 to a restaurant.

Both face charges of fraud and corruption.
