Pienaar’s official request for bail was delayed after the state objected to his request for bail, citing that the defendant had a violent streak and had previously served three years in prison for robbery.
At the time, the spokesman for the Free State National Tax Authority, Phaladi Shuping, said that the state had opposed Pienaar’s request for official bail due to the seriousness of the crimes and the fact that the 52-year-old man he had previously served a three-year sentence for theft after being charged in 2011.
A SAPS delegation, led by Police Minister Bheki Cele, visited the area on Tuesday.
The Minister of State Security, Ayanda Dlodlo, was also part of the delegation that met with farmers at the Mitz farm.
