JOHANNESBURG – ActionSA founder and leader Herman Mashaba said ending the dominance of unions and collective bargaining over government would benefit South Africa’s prospects for economic growth.
Delivering his alternative economic recovery plan, Mashaba said that the alliance movement led by the African National Congress (ANC) had given unions more power than any other actor in the country’s economy.
“The economic crisis we face today is the result of indecision, inaction and political uncertainty caused by ideological and factional battles within the tripartite alliance.”
The Action SA leader said that the unions had the right to veto over economic policy.
He also criticized last week’s march by unions affiliated to Cosatu and Saftu, calling it insane.
