JOHANNESBURG – Transport Minister and NEC member of the African National Congress (ANC), Fikile Mbalula, stood his ground after launching a series of tweets directed at various senior party officials, notably Carl Niehaus of uMkhonto weSizwe and Kebby Maphatsoe .

Mbalula’s tweets coincided with a MK Veterans Association (MKVA) at ANC headquarters in Johannesburg on Monday.

Among his series of tweets, he called people he called “thugs” who wanted to tarnish the image of the ANC.

He shared his views on those who complained that he claimed that the South African Passenger Rail Agency was his dairy cow and that his sin was to turn off the taps on his bogus security companies.

Mbalula also added some personal taunts, even going as far as calling them criminals.

Mbalula followed his tweets with a statement, cementing his views that people like Niehaus and Maphatsoe had ulterior motives aimed at looting Prasa, which is under the Ministry of Transport.

The ANC has rebuked Mbalula saying that his actions go against the party’s social media policy.

Meanwhile, Maphatsoe and Niehaus responded to the tweets.

Maphatsoe warned that Mbalula would not be able to speak in public without first apologizing. Niehaus said it was “out of line.”
