- The EFF has rejected the district attorney’s plan to bring criminal charges against its leader, Julius Malema, and MP Nazier Paulsen.
- Spokeswoman Delisile Ngwenya said Malema simply called for the defense of the Constitution, the judiciary and state property.
- The district attorney says the machine gun tweets incite violence.
The EFF has rejected the district attorney’s plan to bring criminal charges against Julius Malema, saying the move was a “publicity stunt.”
“The district attorney’s plan to denounce Commander-in-Chief Julius Malema and EFF Member of Parliament Nazier Paulsen on a frivolous charge of inciting violence is nothing more than an empty publicity stunt, one they couldn’t do against the hooligans in Senekal or any perpetrator of racism, “party spokeswoman Delisile Ngwenya said on Sunday.
Ngwenya added that the district attorney’s move was a waste of time.
“We reject it as a waste of valuable law enforcement time, which could be better spent fighting gender-based violence, without entertaining the pathetic attempt by the district attorney to woo the sympathies of right-wing elements in this country. “.

Machine Gun Tweets
Ngwenya said Malema did not incite violence at any time.
“The call to defend the Constitution, our judiciary and the state property of those who think they are above the law is one that we are committed to. Nothing will divert EFF from that.”
The district attorney said he would press criminal charges against Malema and Paulsen for recent social media posts that appeared to incite violence.
The party added a tweet from Malema to EFF members to “attack” and one from Paulsen with a picture of a weapon was an attempt to incite violence.
Last week, violent protests broke out in Senekal during the court appearance of two men accused of murdering farm manager Brendin Horner.
The district attorney also urged Parliament’s Ethics Committee to investigate the EFF duo, claiming that the tweet went against the deputies’ oath.
