Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure at Old Trafford after a dismal start to the Premier League season.
The home loss to Crystal Palace was a warning sign that all is not well and the Spurs 6-1 beating last week sounded the alarm bells.
Rumors of a rapprochement by Mauricio Pochettino were quickly quelled by the club. United’s PR machine sprang into action after the Daily Star claimed Pochettino had been “probed” for taking over from the Norwegian.
United publicly endorsed their man again and denied any interest in the former Tottenham boss, who remains out of work.
However, Solskjaer has problems on the field to worry about.
According to Paolo Condo, who works for La Repubblica, United’s dressing room is divided.
So much so that Lukaku’s decision to go to Inter was fueled by unrest. The Belgian international was not happy with Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.
Both French players have had a miserable start to the season.
Condo said: “If things don’t improve, someone will use the next transfer window to attack Matic, and deep down it remains the expiration stone for Pogba’s contract, set in 2021.
“The players, then, communicate with each other.
“Lukaku was tired of United because Pogba and Martial were fighting to pass the ball to him, a picture of a dressing room divided into groups.
“When Sánchez and Young asked him before signing how things were at Inter, the first answer was ‘very good, there are no clans.’
“Times have really changed.”
It remains to be seen whether or not Solskjaer can change things or if he will be given time to change things.
