107 New Deaths Reported in South Africa, Latest Global Developments – The Citizen

As of Sunday, October 11, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases detected is 692,471 with 1,575 new cases identified, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize confirmed.

107 more Covid-19-related deaths were reported: 58 in the Eastern Cape, 38 in the Free State, 4 in KwaZulu-Natal, 6 in Gauteng, and 1 in the Western Cape.

“Of the 107 deaths reported today, 4 occurred in the last 24 hours: 1 in Gauteng, 2 in KwaZulu Natal and 1 in the Western Cape,” Mkhize said.

This brings the total number of Covid-19-related deaths to 17,780.

“We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the deceased and thank the health workers who treated the deceased patients,” added the minister.

Recoveries now stand at 623,765 which translates into a 90% recovery rate.

4,407,441 tests have been performed with 19,270 new tests confirmed since the last report.

India exceeds 7 million cases

India has reported more than 7 million cases of coronavirus, bringing it closer to the United States, the most affected country with more than 7.7 million cases, according to a count prepared by AFP from official sources.

At least 37,297,350 cases of coronavirus have been officially registered worldwide. Of these, at least 25,763,900 are now considered recovered.

After the United States, Brazil has reported 150,198 deaths out of 5,082,637 cases, India 108,334 deaths out of 7,053,806 cases, Mexico 83,642 deaths out of 814,328 cases, and the United Kingdom 42,760 deaths out of 590,844 cases.

Trump returns to the campaign

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, returns to declare well and returns to the campaign after his doctors rule that he is no longer contagious due to his Covid-19 infection.
