South Africa legend Benni McCarthy has said that he will support Al Ahly in their next CAF Champions League clash against Wydad.

Ahly has only two games left in the Egyptian Premier League and has already clinched the title for the 42nd time, a record.

The Red Devils will then face Wydad Athletic in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League a week later.

Former Ajax forward Benni McCarthy spoke about the CAF Champions League teams in the semi-finals and revealed that he will support Al Ahly to win the competition.

“The presence of four strong teams in the semifinals shows the value of the CAF Champions League and expresses the strength of African football,” McCarthy told ON Time Sports.

“I hope Al Ahly and Zamalek reach the final because I know they are two great teams, but my heart goes out to Al Ahly for Pitso Mosimane.

“Mosimane did very well with Mamelodi Sundowns, and he is the most successful coach in South Africa. His move to coach Al Ahly is a big step in his career and I wish him every success with them.

“Any coach in Africa dreams of coaching Al Ahly because of his great achievements in Egyptian and African football.

“I think Mosimane will improve the team and his presence will open the door for South African coaches to work in Egypt because we have good coaches,” he added.
