A leading model in the American fashion industry, Hailey Baldwin has quickly made a name for herself at a considerably young age.
However, some of her other A-lister friends have apparently managed to make her feel a bit ‘inferior’ before her emergence as one of America’s top models.
In an interview with Vogue Australia, the fashion icon had spoken about how she had not always been confident in her abilities and always compared herself to her colleagues, including Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.
“My burn in the modeling industry has been slow and I have had to learn to accept that. I am shorter than most girls. Even though I’m five foot eight, I’m not a runway girl and I used to feel totally inferior to some of my friends. Look at Kendall and Bells [Bella Hadid] and Gigi … they are all tall and on all the catwalks, “he added.
“For a while, there was a part of me that didn’t know if I could have the career I wanted if I couldn’t do it on the runway. A lot of people, as casting directors, would say, ‘We don’t think I’m a real model,’ “she continued.
However, after several struggles, she now feels more comfortable in her own skin: “I am proud of myself for building a more commercial career that worked for me and having confidence in it. I hosted a show, did great American campaigns, and many other things that I really enjoyed. Sometimes I feel like I’m still finding my lane, but now I know I’m going in the right direction. “
