ActionSA said Monday that it was “considering” contesting other metropolitan areas in 2021, including Nelson Mandela Bay, eThekwini and Cape Town.
“Our assessment will examine the growth of our land structures in these municipalities, as well as the response of potential donors to support the campaign,” Mashaba said.
He said ActionSA has a mission to become the alternative to the ANC. The party will challenge the Election Commission after it rejected ActionSA’s registration as a political party. Mashaba had submitted an application to the IEC last month after its launch in August.
He said the decision was based on the perceived similarities between the ActionSA logo and the Party of Action (POA) logo that is registered with the commission.
“Our legal team, now reinforced with the inclusion of an advocate Gill benson, is convinced that we will take this fight to the highest courts of our country if necessary. The entire ActionSA leadership team fully supports the appeal against the IEC decision, ”he said.
