Police Minister Bheki Cele says he intends to visit Brendin Horner’s family and will try to ease tensions before the next court appearance of Horner’s alleged killers.
The minister spoke to News24 editor-in-chief Adriaan Basson on a live broadcast on Friday morning and discussed the attacks on farms, the recent assassination of Cape Town Detective Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear and the investigation of politicians from high profile for alleged corruption.

Cele has come under fire after a recent string of farm killings, including the gruesome murder of Horner, 21, near Paul Roux in the Free State on October 2, especially after he condemned the violence in court. of Senekal Magistrates Tuesday where Horner alleged murderers appeared.
Local farmers and protesters reportedly stormed the court and set fire to a police vehicle.

“I am disappointed that there have been no statements from the leaders of the agricultural community, calling for peace to prevail.
“I have spoken with the police. We will have a meeting [on Saturday]. I have also spoken with [FF Plus leader Pieter] Groenewald, I’ll talk to Julius [Malema, leader of the EFF]I’ll talk to all of them. “
He said it was unnecessary to cause “additional pain.”

“At the end of the day, as a state, we will have to protect everyone who will be there. But we will try to dissipate the tensions that are high, we will be contributing to that.”
Cele said she intends to visit Horner’s family before her next court appearance.
No words to describe the brutality
“I have no words to describe the brutality of killing a 21-year-old in that way. I really don’t have the words. A young man who had his whole life ahead of him, who was working to improve South Africans.
“There is a disease out there.”
Cele also referred to the brutal murder of Tshegofatso Pule. Pule, a 28-year-old beautician, was found stabbed and hanged in a veld in Roodepoort in June. She was eight months pregnant at the time of her murder.
“I am very happy that the police [arrested] these guys (the men accused of murdering Horner), but it saddens me that we couldn’t help it. “
