JOHANNESBURG – A group of supporters of former President Jacob Zuma said it would be a bad outcome if Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo did not step out of the proceedings for the day to receive his memo requesting his disqualification from the commission.
Gauteng RET Jacob Zuma forces have been marching in the Johannesburg CBD to deliver their list of demands to both Zondo and the Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng at the Constitutional Court.
Carl Niehaus, a longtime Zuma loyalist, has been leading the march, insisting that Zondo has been unfair to the former president.
He said it would be very strange if Zondo did not come out of the process to meet with the small group of protesters.
“I think it will reflect particularly badly on the Vice President of the Supreme Court if he ignores that right that we have and the very legitimate demands that we make of him in our memo,” Niehaus said.
Zondo has issued a subpoena against Zuma forcing him to appear before the commission and continue to testify.
Zuma had made the decision to no longer attend the proceedings and asked that Zondo resign due to a conflict of interest, the details of which he did not provide.
Niehaus said it was Zuma’s decision to make those issues public, but he also complained of a bias against the former president.
His attempts to involve President Zuma in all matters, even when the witnesses do not even refer to President Zuma, his failure to call certain witnesses who have made it clear that they have critical information to clarify and shed light on the issue of the been capturing. “
