The Soweto giants are prohibited from signing players in two transfer windows by FIFA, but await the outcome of an appeal.

Kaizer Chiefs soccer coach Bobby Motaung described the delay in ruling his transfer ban appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as “unfortunate” but says he refuses to be overwhelmed by a wait. prolonged.

In February 2020, the Amakhosi were punished with sanctions by the FIFA world governing body, banning them from participating in the transfer market for the next two registration periods after being found guilty of a transfer offense.

This was after Malagasy club Fosa Juniors reported Chiefs to FIFA and they were found guilty of illegally signing and registering Andriamirado ‘Dax’ Andrianarimanana in 2018.

But after filing an appeal against the transfer ban with the CAS on September 8, the result of his petition has yet to be released.

“It’s a shame… you have to be patient. I can’t really say it’s frustrating, but we have to be patient, ”Motaung told Phakaaathi.

“For now we are waiting for the verdict and we can do nothing but practice patience and hope for the best… we are waiting for the verdict and we will go from there. We do not have a timetable … the situation is in the hands of CAS and we will wait for them to give us the verdict, there is nothing else we can do at this time ”.

Chiefs spokeswoman Vina Maphosa said recently that the TAS ruling is taking a long time to rule on her transfer ban appeal due to the voluminous nature of the evidence they presented.

As Amakhosi eagerly awaits news from Zurich, new coach Gavin Hunt watches as his PSL rivals find themselves in the thick of the transfer business preparing for next season.

Mamelodi Sundowns has already signed 12 new players, while the Orlando Pirates has added at least five new players, including Bafana Bafana captain Thulani Hlatshwayo.

In anticipation of their transfer ban being lifted, the Chiefs have convinced former Bidvest Wits left-back Sifiso Hlanti to start training with them.

Hlanti is a free agent and Motaung is confident that his decision on his appeal will be in their favor to secure the defender’s signature.

“We don’t focus on what could be, we face reality. And the reality is that [Hlanti] he’s training with us, ”Motaung said.

“When the result comes, we will take care of the challenges then, for now we are here and he is training with us and we are not looking at what happens if we do not get a positive response. We are not looking at what happens if it does not happen, we are not negative, we have to stay positive. “

Reports suggest bosses could hear from CAS this week.
