JOHANNESBURG – The National Fiscal Authority (NPA) Investigations Directorate said that if it arrested the secretary general of the African National Congress, Ace Magashule, it would do so in silence.

The comments follow on the heels of reports of an arrest warrant for Magashule in connection with tender corruption during his tenure as Premier of the Free State.

Magashule claims there was talk of a Hollywood-style arrest awaiting him, adding that his attorneys would contact the NPA for more details.

The spokeswoman for the investigation directorate, Sindisiwe Twala, said that she could not confirm whether Magashule was being investigated or not: “If we were investigating him or were going to arrest him, we would have done it in secret. Why would we advertise it? “

Twala also refuted claims that the body had sent a query or questions to Magashule.

“I am not aware of any questions that were sent to Ace Magashule to answer from the Investigations Directorate.”
