After being bitterly disappointed to let the PSL title slip through their fingers, Kaizer Chiefs has made it clear and warned poachers that their main forward Samir Nurkovic is going nowhere.
Serbian striker Nurkovic, affectionately known as Kokata Piano among the masses of Amakhosi supporters, was one of the players who cried when the Mamelodi Sundowns came from behind to snatch and lift the Premiership trophy right under their noses last month.
Last season, the Chiefs ended another campaign, their fifth and, most importantly, the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations without winning a trophy, as the defending champions Sundowns emerged victorious with the treble and the 10th title of ‘La Tenth ‘with coach Pitso Mosimane.
But now Mosimane himself has been accused of allegedly poaching Nurkovic among many other PSL players, including those from the Downs, since joining the Egypian Club of the Century Al Ahly last week.
Nurkovic’s 13 goals, along with Lebogang Manyama’s six goals from midfield, numerous assists and lethal plays played a key role in the Glamor Boys’ final as league runners-up.
In a Twitter ad, Chiefs reiterated that Nurkovic was not for sale:

Club comments on Samir Nurković:
– No club has approached us to negotiate their services.
– We cannot let go of our best striker at this stage.
– We are not flexible in the market while we wait for the CAS result. # Amakhosi4Life
PSL’s top scorers run ended with two players, Orlando Pirates’ Gabadinho Mhango and Highlands Park’s Peter Shalulile, who finished with 16 goals each.
SuperSport United’s Bradley Grobler has 14 strikes and four players, Nurkovic, Lamontville Golden Arrows’ Knox Mutizwa, AmaZulu’s Bonginkosi Ntuli and Cape Town’s Kermit Erasmus finished with 13 goals apiece.
