A freak accident in which a man and his ex-wife, who were riding in separate cars, collided with each other before smashing through the walls of two neighboring houses left the owners stunned.

As the man broke through a wall and crashed into a swimming pool, the woman’s car swept through the neighbor’s boundary wall on Van der Stel Avenue, Kabega Park.

Luzuko Sloti said he was at work when his mother called him Monday morning to tell him about the accident.

A white Pole had crashed into the boundary wall, knocking it over and sliding into the garden, while, at the same time, a black Geely had crashed into Sloti’s neighbor’s wall, landing head first into the pool.

Both cars were branded, one owned by Oceans Chemicals and the other by Pillay’s Indian Cuisine.

The Polo allegedly crashed into the rear of the black car, causing it to crash into the wall, witnesses said.

“My mother was surprised by [the sound of] It hit the boundary wall and went outside, ”said Sloti.

“The car crashed into the wall and some bricks that we had packed inside the yard.”

According to Sloti, the man told him that the driver of the Polo was his ex-wife.

He said the woman’s colleagues had arrived at the scene after the photos and video were widely circulated on social media.

“They said that he had left work in a hurry, saying that he had to attend to something at home, but when they recognized the car he was driving in the images circulating on Facebook, they were concerned,” said Sloti.

The man’s car crashed into Luvuyo Mongo’s pool.

“I was inside the house when I heard bricks [from the boundary wall] hit the [house] and I was quick to find a car crashing into my pool with a man in it, ”Mongo said.

“The man managed to get out of the car, but we could tell that he was still in shock.

“He didn’t say much except to confirm that his wife had hit his car from behind and he had lost control and crashed into my yard as she crashed into my neighbor’s,” Mongo said.

Jodash Pillay, owner of the Geely, said a relative was driving it at the time of the accident.

He did not want to give the names of the couple.

He said the woman had been taken to the Mercantile Hospital, while the man was in a bit of pain.

Police spokeswoman Col. Priscilla Naidu said the man had reported the accident for insurance purposes.
