Amakhosi has no intention of selling his best shooter from last season, despite continued rumors that he might leave the club
The Kaizer Chiefs have moved quickly to dismiss media reports that Samir Nurkovic could be sold before the start of the new season.
Unconfirmed reports emerged on Monday that Pitso Mosimane was interested in luring the Serbian forward to Al Ahly.
On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia’s Abha FC was also rumored to have submitted an offer for the services of the Amakhosi shooter.
However, the club said no club has come forward to express interest in the 28-year-old.
The Soweto giants further stated that they cannot let Nurkovic go at this stage, suggesting that any offers for the speedy attacker will be rejected.
This is because they are still awaiting the outcome of their appeal over the two-window transfer ban imposed by FIFA.
Amakhosi appeared before the Court of Arbitration for Sport on September 9, but they have yet to receive communication on whether or not his ban will be lifted.
Club comments on Samir Nurković:
– No club has approached us to negotiate their services.
– We cannot let go of our best striker at this stage.
– We are not flexible in the market while we wait for the CAS result.# Kings4Life pic.twitter.com/L6MbKb7zWt– Kaizer Chiefs (@KaizerChiefs) October 6, 2020
Nurkovic came to Naturena at the start of the 2019-20 season as a relative unknown to most South African soccer fans.
But he took PSL by storm, scoring 14 goals in all competitions in his debut season in South Africa to finish as the club’s top scorer.
He also provided six assists in the 36 games he played for the Glamor Boys.
His incredible goal ratio from his time in Slovakia was the reason Amakhosi brought him to Naturena.
Nurkovic enjoyed his best football at KFC Komarno, where he scored 35 goals in 41 appearances and recorded seven assists.
At Chiefs, he formed a deadly partnership with Leonardo Castro, who got off to a slow start to the season only to be injured towards the end of the season.
The duo are expected to lead Gavin Hunt’s attack in the new season, especially if Amakhosi is unsuccessful in his transfer ban appeal.
