Arsenal ready to land long-term target in major coup on deadline day

Sky Sports reports that Arsenal are expected to complete the signing of Thomas Partey today when the clock runs out in the transfer window.

The Ghanaian midfielder has been Arsenal’s main transfer target in this window and was expected to move to the Emirates throughout the summer.

The Gunners, however, have had trouble paying their buyout clause, which is set at £ 45 million, but that has now changed.

With some players set to leave the Emirates before the transfer window closes at 11pm today, the Gunners are expected to be able to pay off their buyout clause and sign him from the Spanish giants.

Partey is an Arsenal fan and has been eager to move to North London, the Gunners are not expected to have a problem working out their personal terms if that has not already been agreed.

Arsenal had been linked to moves by Houssem Aouar and Jorginho in recent weeks, but Lyon stopped selling any of their players since last Saturday, and it is unlikely that Chelsea would have been willing to allow Jorginho to join a rival.

Partey comes to Arsenal as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Europe and is expected to make the team even stronger.
