Liverpool stunned by Villa in record loss

It seems the rivalry has gone too far after Liverpool narrowly edged Manchester United in the toughest loss of the weekend.

For the first time, both Liverpool and Manchester United conceded six or more goals on the same day. It seemed to Jurgen Klopp’s men that all they could have gone wrong after conceding three deflected goals in a 7-2 humiliation.

The German seemed unable to explain his team’s defeat, but credited an impressive Aston Villa. The Reds are also the first top-flight English champions to allow seven goals in a league game since 1953.

Nightmare performance for Ole’s Man United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became the 2/1 favorite to be the next manager sacked after suffering a humiliating 6-1 loss to José Mourinho’s Tottenham.

United have started the 2020/2021 season slowly with two losses out of three. Even with the rapid change between seasons, little to no preseason period and fatigue, United still appears to be very off the pace.

Solskjaer was simply outmatched by the experienced Roy Hodgson and now again by the tactical master Mourinho.

At a club like United, one of the biggest in the world, Solskjaer’s tendency to be exposed cannot happen as regularly as it has.

Carlo Ancelotti showing managerial pedigree

Could, in the “twilight” of his career, ironically become the most impressive managerial performance of the Italian veteran?

Ancelotti has overseen a perfect start to the season for Everton with four wins out of four to sit at the top of the standings.

The Champions League-winning coach is to be applauded for getting the Blues’ renewed midfielder fired, in part thanks to the season’s first signing candidate, James Rodriguez.

Perhaps Ancelotti’s most impressive feat so far has been Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s impressive transformation into a true striker. Explaining how he managed to achieve this, Ancelotti nonchalantly named Filipo Inzaghi as an example when advising his new young attacker.

This only shows the great experience of the 61-year-old, and also that when Ancelotti talks about football … you listen.

David Moyes the ‘Zoom Fergie’

Since David Moyes was forced to work from home after contracting Covid-19, West Ham has recorded two major victories.

The Scotsman has continued to manage the Hammers from home with the use of Zoom.

Moyes Zoom’s call management revolution has seen his team record a 4-0 win over Wolves and an impressive 3-0 win over Leicester.

It seems like it would be worth keeping Moyes on Zoom.

2020/21 a season of surprises?

Looking at the current Premier League table, could this be another season of surprises like Leicester’s 2015/2016 title-winning season?

Everton leads the standings with a perfect record (4 wins out of 4 plays) followed by Aston Villa who also has a perfect record (3 wins out of 3 plays) with one game in hand.

Leicester and Arsenal round out the top four in what has so far proven to be an unpredictable start to the season.

So far we have seen a record number of goals scored (144 goals after 38 games played so far) with a record number of penalties awarded in what looks like it’s going to be a roller coaster this season.
