CAPE TOWN – The case against the man linked to the murder of Cape Town Detective Lieutenant Colonel Charl Kinnear has been postponed to Friday.

Zane Killian made a brief appearance Monday morning in Bishop Lavis Magistrates Court.

Kinnear was shot and killed outside his Bishop Lavis home in September.

Dressed in a black hoodie, sweatpants, and jacket, Killian appeared on the dock for the second time. He is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and illegal interception of communications.

The state believes that it followed Kinnear’s movement through its cell phones.

Western Cape spokesman for the National Prosecution Authority (NPA), Eric Ntabazalila, said Killian’s request for bail will likely be heard in another court for security reasons.

“All parties decided that the matter would have to be transferred to a different court,” said Ntabazalila.

The state plans to oppose the bond.
