Police launch manhunt for suspects behind murder of Sedibeng city manager

JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng police on Saturday launched a manhunt for gunmen who shot and killed the municipal manager of the Sedibeng District Municipality, Stanley Khanyile.

Khanyile was reportedly in his car at Meyersdale in Alberton when he was attacked.

Police said he was in his car at the corner of Hennie Alberts Road and Michelle Avenue in a shopping center when a suspect shot the 52-year-old man.

Gauteng police spokesman Brigadier Mathapelo Peters said the incident occurred around noon on Saturday.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect, or suspects, is urged to contact the nearest police station or call Crime Stop 08600 10111. All information information will be kept confidential, “Peters said.

The shooter is understood to have fled the scene and got into a gold Toyota Cressida with an unknown registration number.

The motive for the attack is still unknown.
