Whenever something is hot and particularly interesting to South African people, local restaurant chain Nando’s gets right to the heart of things.
And we congratulate them for finding the funny side of almost every situation. But it seems that tweeps have already had enough of the brand’s taunting of Finance Minister Tito Mboweni.
Mboweni is known for sharing his various cooked meals on social media. Sometimes they tease him for using too much garlic or tomato.
Everything is fun and games, that is, until it stops being.
On Twitter, Nando commented on a fellow Twitter’s instant noodles paired with Nando’s famous peri-peri sauce.

“Tito’s school in full force,” commented the chicken restaurant.
Many tweets did not see the funny side and drew attention to Nando’s attempt to make a joke.
Nandi, why don’t you employ? @tito_mboweni be your head chef. He has been doing incredible things. pic.twitter.com/OpX8y7jRRD

“Is it even a Tito meal without the sardine overdose?” asked a user.

Another said, “No, it’s not Tito’s food without a garlic overdose.”

Others marveled at the combination of noodles and peri-peri sauce.

Joking aside, Nando might be losing his cool factor. Just a few weeks ago, Twitter was unimpressed when it retweeted a video of two chickens crossing the street.
Originally shared by @AnimalsWorId, the video had the caption “I feel like everyone should see this.”
For obvious reasons, the video provided ample opportunity for those “Why did the chicken cross the street?” Jokes.
And then Nando entered daddy prank territory with a joke of his own: “Nayi le walk (here’s the walk) after your mom mops the floor.”
