DURBAN – The Hawks in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested a senior official in Prime Minister Sihle Zikalala’s office for fraud and corruption related to a 20 million rand catering tender.

Three service providers have also been arrested.

All four are expected to appear in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court on Friday.

Hawks KZN spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo said the four defendants join five others who were arrested in July.

“Among those four, there is a supply chain manager who must now appear in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court.”

Among those who have already been charged in connection with this matter are Nomusa Zwake, personal assistant to Prime Minister Zikalala, Ziphathe Cibane, CFO, Sithembiso Msomi, and clerk Njabulo Makhathini.

Gugu Kheswa, a service provider, was also arrested in the first raid.

The nine defendants will appear today in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court.
