What the German press says about Jadon Sancho’s availability for Dortmund

There was a slight twist in Jadon Sancho’s transfer saga this week when he missed the German Super Cup game in Dortmund due to illness.

Sky Sports reports that Sancho’s illness was just a ‘coincidence’, despite Goal.com reporting how the winger used this as a tactic to force his 2017 exit from Manchester City.

The Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet claimed to have “various sources” suggesting that Sancho was trying to force Dortmund out.

The latest state of play according to Ruhr Nachrichten in Germany says Dortmund are “concerned” about Sancho’s availability to play Freiburg on Saturday.

The report says that Sancho participated in a ‘relaxed session’ at Dortmund training on Thursday.

The German team needs to be on top of their game after losing their last two matches.

Still not giving up

Sky Sports Sancho report told Dortmund before August that he wanted to leave the club to join Manchester United.

Even if Sancho plays for Dortmund this Saturday, he would not rule out the possibility of him joining United.

The report says United has not walked away from the deal, suggesting there could be an ongoing attempt to sign him.

United is running out of time. The transfer window closes on Monday at 11pm.

Regardless of what other deals United manage to make, they will be seen through the prism of Sancho’s play.

If United sign Sancho, the club’s main goal, this summer he will finally become a success despite the long saga.

But if Sancho is still a Dortmund player when the deadline passes, then United will have failed, regardless of who else is signed.
