Liverpool will find out who they will face in the group stage of this year’s Champions League this afternoon when they begin their quest for a seventh title.
The Premier League champions were eliminated in the knockout stage of last season’s competition against Atlético de Madrid in one of the final games played before the coronavirus lockdown hit soccer.
The previous season, however, Jurgen Klopp’s men had lifted the famous trophy in Madrid thanks to a 2-0 win over Tottenham, which in turn made up for their final 2017/18 loss to Real Madrid.
As champions of England, the Reds have a place in pot one, which means they can’t attract any of the other top seeds, including players like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus.
