  • The ANC has told members of its staff that it will, again, pay wages late.
  • In a letter to employees, the party said September wages will be paid after the end of the month.
  • This came about when the ANC received a bill of more than R105,000 for its senior members’ trip to Zimbabwe on an air force plane.

The ANC is facing more financial problems, this time it has yet to pay the Luthuli House staff members in September.

In a letter to staff dated September 29, ANC CEO Febe Potgieter said staff should expect to be paid late.

“On behalf of the General Treasurer, this seeks to inform all ANC staff that, sadly, September 2020 salaries will be paid after the end of the month. Salary payments will be made no later than October 9, 2020 “the letter read.

Two staff members confirmed the letter to News24, adding that they had not yet been paid on Thursday.

“We urgently request the staff to make the necessary arrangements with their banks, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused,” Potgieter said.

This came when the ANC received a bill for R105,000 for its officers’ trip to Zimbabwe aboard a South African Air Force plane.

The ANC is said to have paid the staff salaries in late August and earlier in June.

ANC spokesman Pule Mabe said it was an internal matter and the party would not comment.

“It is a problem between the ANC and its employees,” he said.

This week, ANC party salaries have been a focus of attention in the judicial commission of inquiry into the state’s capture after it emerged that the now-arrested businessman, Edwin Sodi, was asked to donate funds for the party’s salaries. .

The Blackhead director told the commission that the 3.5 million rand he paid to the ANC was a donation and not corruption.

Sodi’s bank statements include the names of Zizi Kodwa, Pinky Kekana, Paul Mashatile, and Zweli Mkhize.
