Manchester United appears to be considering adding a new striker before the transfer deadline.
Gianluca di Marzio reports that United are interested in the Real Madrid forward and have conducted an investigation.
Real’s stance on Jovic’s future is unclear, and Zinedine Zidane hasn’t been able to get the best of him so far.
When asked about Jovic today, Zidane responded simply by saying that the door was open to all possibilities before the deadline.
The Real Madrid coach was quoted by Goal.com: “You have to take everything into account.
“Until the fifth [of October], the market is open. We will see. The players are doing well and that’s what interests me ”.
Has supported him despite the struggles
Just last week, Zidane was talking to Jovic and hoping he would go ahead and produce at the Bernabéu.
One Football quoted him: “I never thought Jović was incompatible with Benzema.
“I believe that each player can contribute something and work to make sure that all the players are prepared during the training.”
Jovic has struggled to score goals since moving from Real Madrid for £ 62 million in 2019.
He scored 27 goals that year with Eintracht Frankfurt, but only has two with Real.
Jovic is only 22 years old, and earlier this year Zidane gave him great support to succeed in the long run.
Goal.com in June: “He is the future. You have to be calm. He is learning.
“He is a boy who wants to learn a lot. Is very good. He will get many goals. We have supported him and we must be calm with him ”.
While Jovic is clearly a talent, a move away from Real Madrid would likely help him.
Whether a move to another big club like Manchester United would be the right decision is another matter, but English football may be better suited to Serbian.
Zidane’s endorsement of Jovic suggests that he may not be ready to give up on him entirely.
United may have to settle for a loan agreement, although for this to work, ideally a purchase option would be included.
