José Mourinho explains why he chased Eric Dier during the bath

Whenever you see a team led by José Mourinho in action, you can usually expect to see something unusual happen. It’s part of his unique personality, but you can absolutely understand the turmoil in the football world when Mourinho launched himself into the locker room with the second half already underway.

I was going to retrieve Eric Dier who was using the bathroom.

In the 77th minute of Tottenham Hotspur’s Carabao Cup match against Chelsea, Callum Hudson-Odoi nearly doubled Chelsea’s lead against Spurs. And the next thing we saw was Mourinho heading towards the tunnel.

Dier had apparently left the field to use the bathroom, and Mourinho was frustrated that his team was forced to play with few players.

When asked about that ordeal after the game, Mourinho said he did want to tell Dier to hurry to the bathroom and get back on the field.

That’s … uh … a new one.

And well, Dier would score later during the penalty shoot-out when Tottenham came back to eliminate Chelsea from the Carabao Cup. You can laugh at that now.
