ajax Amsterdam have decided to end their 21-year relationship with the South Africa-based franchise Ajax Cape Town.
The Dutch club has sold its 51% stake to Cape Town stars, the Urban Warriors revealed in a statement.
Ajax Amsterdam has been a large shareholder in Ajax Cape Town since 1999.
“Cape Town Stars, 49% shareholder of Ajax Cape Town, is pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement to acquire 51% of the GladAfrica Championship franchise from Ajax Amsterdam as of October 1st.” the statement read.
“After 21 years of association with their Dutch counterparts, Cape Town Stars will acquire full control of the South African club.
“Cape Town Stars will soon be in a position to advise on the way forward regarding the future of the franchise.”
