JOHANNESBURG – Free State Housing HOD Nthimotse Mokhesi said he agreed with Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo that Blackhead, a company that paid 255 million rand to audit and remove asbestos, misrepresented its experience to get the job.
Mokhesi is back on the state capture commission.
Blackhead outsourced the work to another company that outsourced to another and the Public Protector said the actual work was done for R21 million.
Mokhesi said the province relied on a court ruling to decide that it did not overpay for services.
But Zondo said the commission would not rely on the judge’s opinion in making that determination.
Zondo told Mokhesi that it was his duty to make sure the contracts were value for money and that he should have cared and acted, which he did not.
“So it seems to me that the Blackhead joint venture also misrepresented the department because, in this service level agreement, they assured the department that they had the ability, the experience and the qualifications, if I’m not mistaken, to do the job. job. And the work, as specified, included asbestos removal, for which they had no clearance to do. Okay? “Zondo asked.
