Barcelona is focused on securing a forward after the departure of Luis Suárez.

Barcelona legend and veteran Luis Suárez has left the club in a free transfer to Diego Simeone’s Atlético de Madrid. The Uruguayan is currently 33 years old and apparently is not up to the continuous matches. Apparently, Ronald Koeman had made it very clear to the forward that it would not be part of his plans at the Camp Nou. Therefore, this transfer was inevitable.

However, Barça are now looking for Lautaro Martínez of Inter Milan and Memphis Depay of Olympique Lyonnais to replace Suárez. Until now, in this current transfer window, the Catalans were strictly sticking with selling before buying, but they may have to make an exception for these two forwards if they are looking for an ideal replacement.

Many reports emerged weeks ago that the Dutch international had apparently agreed to personal terms with the La Liga giants, but somehow that deal is not yet in the final stages. As for Lautaro, his agent assured that he will stay one more year with Antonio Conte at Inter Milan. The Argentine reportedly stated that he wants to play with Lionel Messi. This could be his last chance as the 33-year-old may leave Barca next season as he submitted a transfer request this season.

Realistically, as for Lautaro, the transfer may not happen because Inter rates him at a staggering € 111 million price tag. The current economic problems at the Camp Nou will in no way allow this transfer of such a high amount. If Messi’s transfer request was agreed, his sale would generate at least 150-200 million euros, allowing the La Liga giants to rebuild in a more comfortable way.

Lautaro or Depay, Blaugrana need a replacement very soon as club legend Suarez left the club so drastically. The club’s board did not consider the departure of Suárez respectively, as the players are increasingly unhappy. Messi took some underlying shots on the board in an Instagram caption in a goodbye post from his best friend Luis Suárez.
