Telefoot Chaine reports that Arsenal have made the first offer for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.
The 22-year-old has been Arsenal’s main transfer target in this transfer window and it looks like he’s going to get his man.
They have tried to sign him using Matteo Guendouzi as a sweetener in the deal before now, but that was rejected by the French team who do not like the former PSG trainee.
Arsenal have had to search for the money and have been looking to sell some members of their current team.
The report claims that the Gunners have drawn blood and made an offer for the midfielder.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has been publicly hinting that the Gunners might not have the funds to make the move for the young midfielder due to covid19, but it appears that Arsenal is willing to prove him wrong.
The exact fee Arsenal offered has not been disclosed at the moment, but Lyon had valued it at £ 54 million all summer.
He could be the last player Arsenal brings in this summer, however his arrival will mean players like Lucas Torreira and Mohamed Elneny will likely have to leave Emirates before the transfer window closes.
