Arsenal may have beaten Leicester, but Liverpool will be a much tougher test

We were lucky against Leicester, but we definitely need to improve our game at Anfield! by Shenel

When we beat Leicester with a good enough B-team on Wednesday, it was clear that our team is not yet where it should be. Something of which we are fully aware of course.

I know many of the players featured are not first-team starters week after week, but most of them are bench stars expected to break into points during the game. Although there wasn’t much to shout about, they managed to get a result and Leno, how I don’t know, managed to keep a clean sheet, albeit against a Leicester team that didn’t have Jamie Vardy playing.

If Arteta is using the Carabao Cup as a platform to see which players he can put on the first team, I’m sure he came out just as confused on Wednesday about who to put, because let’s face it, no one really shined. where you could change your mind and include them. Of course, it is always good to get a result against a Leicester team that does not reach the maximum, but if any of those players want to play in the first team, they have a lot more work to do!

We know we have to improve and during this week’s Cup matches, teams like Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle scored 6/7 goals, albeit against much weaker rivals, but you can’t help but think that if any of those teams would have played against Leicester, they would have won by 6 goals rather than simply overtaking with a 2-0 scoring line. Especially for a team that had people like Pepe at the helm!

Now we are faced with the difficult task of a trip to Liverpool in the next round as they defeated Lincoln 7-2 and weren’t even at full strength.

We hope our guys can produce a better and more comfortable result and outdo us against the Reds next Thursday, without leaving it at the last minute! Gooners?
