Proteas fast bowling duo Kagiso rabada Y Anrich Nortje starring him Capitals of Delhi as they secured a comfortable victory over the Super Kings of Chennai on Friday.
Rabada took three times 26 to lead the capitals to their second consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) victory by winning by 44 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Rabada claimed the purple cap after his performance with the bat, as he currently has five wickets in the tournament so far.
After Chennai captain MS Dhoni won the toss and chose the field, Capitals starter Prithvi Shaw got the ball rolling by breaking 64 of 43 balls.
Spinner Piyush Chawla was the bowlers’ choice for the Super Kings as the Capitals recorded 175/3 on the board.
Nortje claimed his first IPL wicket as starter Murali Vijay fired by 10.
Former Proteas captain Faf du Plessis and Kedar Jadhav endured 54 runs, but soon Nortje caught Indian batsman Jadhav for 26.
Du Plessis once again led the Chennai chase in response and made a brave 43 of 35 balls, but Chennai finished 131/7 in its 20 overs.
Du Plessis also received the orange cap as the tournament’s top run scorer thus far, scoring in 173 runs.
