The Argentine superstar has led a new attack on decision-makers at the Camp Nou, with the departure of “one of the most important players in history”
Lionel Messi has targeted a new offensive at Barcelona based on his efforts to leave the club, with the Argentine questioning the decision at Camp Nou to “kick out” Luis Suárez.
After enduring a frustrating end to the 2019-20 campaign, a six-time Ballon d’Or winner pushed the starts in Catalunya.
His path was blocked and the 33-year-old finally revealed objective who will be serving the last year of his contract.
However, others were allowed to move on, with Ronald Koeman judging that Suarez exceeded the requirements shortly after he was announced as the successor to fired coach Quique Setien.
The Uruguayan forward is now crossing a La Liga dividing line to join Atlético de Madrid, with a memorable six-year stint with Barça drawing to a close.
Suárez had starred for the Blaugrana, with one of the most devastating partnerships in world football between two talented South Americans.
That link has now been broken, much to the chagrin of a disgruntled Messi.
The Barça superstar has posted on Instagram: “I had already begun to imagine it but today I entered the dressing room and it really occurred to me. It will be very difficult not to continue sharing every day with you both in the fields and outside of them.
“We are going to miss you a lot. We spent many years together, many lunches and many dinners. So many things that we will never forget, all the time we spend together.
“It will be strange to see you with another shirt and much more to face you on the field. You deserved a farewell that fit who you are: one of the most important players in the club’s history. Someone who accomplished great things for the team and individually.
“You didn’t deserve to be kicked out like they did. But the truth is that nothing surprises me at this point ”.
Suarez scored 198 goals for Barcelona in just 283 appearances, with his impressive hitting rate complementing Messi’s.
The pair formed a close bond on and off the pitch and helped deliver an enviable array of great honors to the Camp Nou trophy cabinet.
Suarez, in an emotional farewell statement, said Koeman’s sacrifice was not a surprise.
However, many have been stunned by the decision, with Messi among those disappointed by another big call that Barca can live to regret.
Another former member of the famous ‘MSN’ front line, the current Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar, has also expressed surprise at what is happening in Catalonia.
Commenting on Messi’s original post, the Brazilian international said “amazing how they do things,” with a face emoji in hand for good measure.
