Lionel Messi considers leaving Barcelona for Arsenal
Barcelona have put themselves in such a terrible position right now that it seems Lionel Messi was right in every way he protested to the board.
Barcelona closed an agreement with Atlético de Madrid for the transfer of Luis Suárez in the last hours of Wednesday, thus ending an illustrious era in the club’s history. However, the Uruguayan’s departure has left a bigger gap than ever in the squad and at the worst possible moment for the Blaugrana, when they cannot afford signings.

By now, Ronald Koeman has already sold four players who have virtually no substitutes or one who is too young or of poor quality. The depth of the squad has taken a big hit and it is therefore difficult to see the Blaugrana competing in all three competitions this year because the signings also seem a bit out of reach at the moment.
Lionel Messi was gathering behind the board to sign players like Joshua Kimmich and Lautaro Martinez while the pandemic was not on and also urged his superiors to ditch the deadwood, which has now not yielded a significant amount. The board basically paid no attention to the player’s demands and only hired unnecessary players like Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho, not to mention Miralem Pjanic, a hysterical move indeed.
Looking ahead to the 2020/21 campaign, the Catalans have an aging squad and they don’t have much to be optimistic about. The defense has been as lackluster as it has ever been in recent times, while the front row is full of players like Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho, all of whom have not given half their price.
The hegemony of Josep Maria Bartomeu made Barcelona win a treble and several other trophies, but with more problems than ever. This is easier said than done, but with the debt situation and the urgent needs that the current manager has put the club into, it will be difficult even for Joan Laporta or Víctor Font to reverse the situation in just one year.
Should Messi have left the club for good this summer to end his career in a happy place?
