Four players who would make Manchester United a force

Manchester United’s limitations were exposed at the weekend in a poor opening day loss to Crystal Palace.

While “it’s never as bad as it sounds,” United appear to be well below the standard required to mount a title challenge.

The transfer window is still open for another two weeks, at least there is a chance United will address this.

Sadly though, the window has been open for eight weeks and only one player has entered.

So expecting a late splurge of transfers is probably too much to ask.

Nonetheless, we have a wish list of four players who would change United for the better. Here it is.

Players needed

Let’s start with the obvious and get it out of the way. Jadon sancho he’s been United’s main transfer target all summer.

The Dortmund winger offers an attacking invention that United currently lacks, and would ease the pressure on the three forwards.

Sancho would cost a record fee for the club and while this deal would represent a success and a big step forward, it may leave little or no room for others.

Alex tal currently it appears to be United’s move that is the most advanced.

The Telegraph reports that United are in talks to sign Porto’s left-back, which would give the team an extra attacking advantage from position.

Available at just £ 20 million due to its expiring contract, Telles looks like a must buy, which would also allow more deals to be made.

A move that is difficult to make is one for Upamecan Dayot. But this is a really important deal to try.

Upamecano is one of the best center-backs in Europe and he’s only 21 years old. United need to improve on Victor Lindelof and make RB Leipzig an offer they cannot refuse.

A deal that would require some invention would also be to sign Atlético de Madrid Thomas Partey, which currently does not appear to be on the club’s radar.

Without Nemanja Matic on the squad on Saturday, United’s need for a defensive midfielder was highlighted. Scott McTominay doesn’t actually fill this role, and neither does Fred.

Partey would be an ideal solution and he has a £ 43.5 million buyout clause in his contract with Atlético. [MEN].

Lucky to get one

These four players represent the scale of what is needed at Manchester United in terms of squad improvements.

There is no urgency on the part of the board and there has not been all summer.

It seems that United would be lucky to have one of these players, let alone two, or more.

This is the kind of shortlist United needed to have at the beginning of the summer, and mark them one by one.

And beyond this, a second winger will probably be needed, and a new forward as well.

The fewer deals United makes this summer, the more it will take next year.

In the past four windows, including this one, United have signed just five players to permanent deals.

Of course, waiting for a review is asking too much. But clearly there needs to be more revenue before the transfer deadline, or there will be a long season ahead.
