Manchester United are interested in signing Alex Telles from Porto.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League giants are in talks with the Portuguese team about the 27-year-old and it is likely to cost around € 20 million.
Telles has proven his worth in Europe with Porto and could be the ideal competition for Luke Shaw for the starting left-back position at Manchester United.
The Brazilian is more impressive up front compared to Shaw and could prove to be a very useful option for Solskjaer’s team at both ends of the field.
Manchester United need to bring in a defender who supports their attack and contributes offensively. Telles would certainly be an improvement in that regard.
Plus, he’s at the peak of his career and could have an immediate impact at Old Trafford.
It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils can agree on a rate with Porto in the coming weeks. They certainly have the financial muscle to get the signing this summer.
A trade to United would be an important step in Telles’ career and therefore convincing him to join should not be a problem for the Premier League team.
Manchester United need to add more depth to their squad to finish in the top four and fight for trophies. They have signed Donny van de Beek from Ajax to improve their midfield, but that’s not enough.
They should look to add more quality to their defense and attack before the window closes.
