Cape Town: South Africans will adjust to a new reality today after the country moved to alert level 1 from midnight on Sunday.

According to the Official Government Gazette published on Friday, everyone is confined to their home from midnight to 4 a.m. every day, except when a permit or permit has been granted, or when attending a medical emergency or of security.

Attendance at funerals is limited to 100 people or less, while night watches are still banned.

Meetings at religious institutions, social events, political events, cinemas, theaters, concerts, traditional council meetings, and conferences are limited to 250 people or less for indoor meetings and 500 people or less for outdoor meetings.

Meetings at casinos, gyms, gyms, and swimming pools are limited to no more than 50 percent of the venue’s capacity.

Bars, shebeens, hotels, hostels, resorts, guesthouses and similar establishments are also allowed 50 percent of the capacity of venues while nightclubs are still closed.

“An owner or operator of any indoor or outdoor facility where meetings are held must show the certificate of occupancy that establishes the maximum number of people that the facility can accommodate,” the regulation says.

The sale of liquor in establishments authorized for external consumption is allowed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, except holidays. Sale is allowed in authorized premises for on-site consumption.

Sports activities, including professional and non-professional events, are allowed by recognized sports organizations, with the presence only of venue employees and journalists. Spectators are not allowed.

The regulation also establishes that a person cannot be evicted from his land or home or demolish his place of residence for the duration of the national state of disaster unless a competent court has granted an order authorizing the eviction or demolition.

“A competent court may suspend or suspend an eviction or demolition order until after the expiration or termination of the national state of disaster.

“As of October 1, all travelers from the African continent and from countries outside the African continent with a low rate of infection and transmission of Covid-19 will resume, subject to the traveler presenting a valid certificate of a negative test that was obtained no more than 72 hours before the date of travel; and in the event that the traveler does not present a certificate as proof of a negative test, the traveler must quarantine himself at his own cost. “

International travel from countries listed with a high rate of infection and transmission of Covid-19 will remain prohibited, except for business travel, which may be allowed with the approval of the Minister of Internal Affairs.

Meanwhile, bus and taxi services cannot transport more than 70% of the authorized capacity for long-distance trips (200 km or more); and it can carry 100% of the authorized capacity for any trip that is not considered a long-distance trip.
