The self-isolation rules have been modified by the Government with more severe penalties for those who violate the coronavirus rules. Health Secretary Matt Hancock said coronavirus restrictions would become stricter in England if rules are not followed and the government introduces £ 10,000 fines for people who do not self-isolate. But how can you request a low-income self-isolation payment?
The Health Secretary has warned of more restrictive measures as the UK “faces a tipping point”.
Hancock said people in the UK “have relaxed more over the summer” but “now is the time when everyone needs to get back” to play by the rules.
He added that he was “concerned” about people violating self-isolation rules and leading the government to outlaw it in England.
Hancock declined to rule out “national action” when asked about the possibility of a second national shutdown.

How to apply for the £ 500 Self Isolation Grant
The local authorities must establish the support schemes and have them operational before October 12.
Anyone told to self-isolate as of September 28 will receive retroactive payments once the scheme is established in their area.
Approximately four million people receiving benefits in England will be eligible for this payment.
This financial support occurs when the government imposes a legal requirement on people to self-isolate when instructed to do so by the NHS Test and Trace and introduces tougher penalties for breaking the rules.
The prime minister said: “The best way to fight this virus is for everyone to follow the rules and isolate themselves if they are at risk of transmitting the coronavirus. And lest anyone underestimate how important this is, the new regulations will mean that you are legally bound to do so if you have the virus or if the NHS Test and Trace has asked you to.
“People who choose to ignore the rules will face significant fines.
“We need to do everything we can to control the spread of this virus, prevent the most vulnerable people from becoming infected, protect the NHS and save lives.
“And while most people are doing their best to follow the rules, I don’t want to see a situation where people don’t feel like they can be financially isolated.
“This is why we are also introducing a new £ 500 test and trace support payment for those with low incomes who are required by NHS Test and Trace to stay home to help stop the spread of the virus.”
