Speaking to SowetanLIVE’s sister publication TimesLIVE, Kopane said he believed it was time to offer others the opportunity to lead the party in the province.
“When you’re in leadership positions, you don’t wait until you get kicked out. I have built a good legacy, the district attorney has developed me, I do not look back with regret. I’ve done what I was supposed to do, ”Kopane said.
He said he felt it was time to leave his post. Nothing bad had happened and she was not running from anything, he added.
“It is not a title that [makes] That I serve people, I’m a born leader, it doesn’t mean that when I step back and give other people a chance, I’m not going to lead … so I’ll still have a position [and will] support those in leadership. That’s what I am, I’ve never been a second in my life, “Kopane said.
Speaking about the district attorney and his current internal disputes, Kopane said he believed the party would come through despite its problems.
“In life, in any organization, in any company, there are moments when there are challenges, it is part of life. The question is how to respond to those challenges … but whatever is happening to the district attorney now, it has happened to everyone else, ”Kopane said.
He said the party would use its current challenges as a “springboard to go elsewhere.”
