POLOKWANE – Seven people, three men and four women, were killed in a head-on collision on the D19 road near Sengatane on the outskirts of Seshego on Sunday.
Department of Transportation spokesman Matomi Moremi-Taueatsoala said two sedans were involved in the collision.
“Six people were confirmed dead at the scene. Four others suffered serious injuries and were transferred to a hospital in Seshego, where one succumbed to the wounds suffered.
The road was closed for about four hours.
Meanwhile, in the Mopani district, two people were killed when a sedan and a bakkie collided in Maphalle.

Moremi-Taueatsoala said the incident occurred after a driver lost control of his vehicle and rear-ended the other. “The driver of the sedan was certified dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle and four other passengers were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. The driver then succumbed to his injuries. “
Preliminary investigations revealed that reckless driving is the possible cause of the accident, he said.
