Johannesburg – The ANC in Gauteng has confirmed that it will release the report on the PPE tendering scandal involving Health MEC Bandile Masuku on Sunday.
ANC provincial secretary Jacob Khawe said on Saturday that the provincial executive committee (PEC) will meet on Sunday to discuss, among others, preparations for the local government elections and the report of the provincial integrity commission.
The report will be released to the media after the PEC has met and discussed its recommendations and made a decision.
Masuku and President Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokeswoman Khusela Diko have been absent after being implicated in the PPE tender scandal.
Khawe told SABC on Saturday that they will receive the integrity commission’s report during the PEC meeting on Sunday. He said the ANC opposes corruption.
“As the ANC, we lower our arrogance and tell the people of Gauteng and South Africa that this should not have happened during Covid-19,” Khawe said.
He refused to be carried away by the conclusions of the commission’s report.
He said he would not comment on whether Masuku was authorized by the commission, but the PEC will discuss it and make a decision.
